ISLAMABAD: The prime minister’s office issued a statement on Saturday that highlights Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid responsible for a news story that was leaked to the media.
It says that the ‘planted’ story published in daily Dawn was a national security breach and therefore the minister has been temporarily directed to step down from the office until an independent and detailed inquiry is done.
The press release further states that an inquiry committee including senior officers of intelligence agencies – Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) – has been formed to identify the motives behind the leaked story and to expose all those responsible.
