ISLAMABAD: United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC) and UN Development Programme (UNDP) resident representative Neil Buhne called on Human Rights Minister Senator Kamran Michael on Thursday.
Buhne discussed matters of mutual interest, specifically those related to the promotion and protection of human rights in Pakistan. Michael acknowledged his support and assistance for socio-economic development. He welcomed the distinguished guest and highlighted the steps underway for ensuring the protection of human rights and said that district-level committees were being formed for safeguarding human rights.
The UN resident representative congratulated the government on the recent legislation for the protection of women and appreciated the endeavours to protect the rights of children and minorities and assured his full support in this regard.
