LANDIKOTAL: A polio worker was shot dead on Wednesday in Ghundi area, Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency.
According to official sources, Fazal Amin was on duty to vaccinate children on the second day of the polio campaign when unidentified gunmen shot and injured him. He was taken to the nearest health centre, but succumbed to his wounds.
Field Supervisor Medical Officer (FS-MO) Dr Hafiz told Daily Times that Amin was administering polio drops when he came under attack.
Security personnel cordoned off the area and started searching for the attackers. Officials said they had arrested 16 suspects so far. Nobody claimed responsibility for the attack.
