RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army on Saturday handed over a purpose built crossing facility at Angoor Adda to the Afghan National Army, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
“This gesture will act as a catalyst and is envisioned to bring momentum for establishing peace and stability along the Pak-Afghan border,” the military media wing said in a statement issued here.
“It was reiterated during the process, that all border-related issues will be amicably resolved through mutual consultations subsequently.”
On Friday, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had said the Pak-Afghan border was being misused by militants, extremists and drug smugglers. He had also stressed on effective border management between the two countries.
Pakistan on May 10 closed the border crossing at Torkham after the Afghan forces had prevented fencing along the border to stop illegal cross-border movements.
