LONDON: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday met British National Security Adviser Mark Lyall Grant at 10 Downing Street.
The two leaders had discussions on matters of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation and peace and stability in the region.
Khan praised the British government’s determination to help Pakistan meet all emerging challenges. Talking to the media, he said there was a considerable decrease in terrorist activity in Pakistan as a result of the efforts of the government. He said that terrorist attacks in the country had fallen to their lowest level compared to the last nine years.
The interior minister stated that 14,000 intelligence-based operations were carried out in the country under the National Action Plan. He said that eliminating the aides and facilitators of terrorists was the ultimate challenge.
Khan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made repeated efforts to restore friendly relations with India, but certain events sabotaged all these efforts. He stated that Pakistan would continue its earnest efforts to restore peace and stability in Afghanistan for the betterment of the region. He said that Afghanistan must stop blaming Pakistan for every incident on its soil.
